Costs Explained

There isn’t much that isn’t on offer in Argentina, a vast nation with a unique identity, characterized by its passion and pride. And there is plenty to be passionate about in Argentina, from the vast, varied and frankly awe-inspiring landscapes and beautiful cities, to an acutely vibrant cultural scene, rich cuisine and of course – the always-present football. This internship offers you the chance to experience this melting pot of a country from a new perspective, living as an integral part of a local Argentine community.

This cultural exchange programme is designed for you to share your teaching skills working in local schools and English Immersion camps, while learning about this fascinating culture and experiencing all the myriads of daily adventures there are to be had. The proximity of Argentina to other equally exciting South American destinations such as Uruguay, Chile and Bolivia means your adventures can practically go on forever. This highly flexible programme offers teaching placements of either 3, 4 or 12 months duration in a range of cities and towns including Buenos Aires, Cordoba, Rosario, Mendoza, La Plata, Tucuman, Santa Fe, San Juan, Resistencia, Neuquen, Jujuy, Corrientes, La Pampa & many more.

The programme starts with a 12-day orientation course in the town of Mercedes, encompassing an intensive 2-day TEFL workshop. You will also receive an array of useful information on living and teaching in Argentina, cultural immersion, advice on how to get by in Argentinian Spanish and lots of fun activities during which you will get to know your fellow teachers and have a chance to check out Argentina together.

Following the orientation, you will be transported to your placement location, where you will be living in a local homestay, an excellent way to get the low-down on the Argentinian way of life. Depending on where you will be placed, your school may offer an additional period of training at the start of your teaching placement.

Book with Confidence

There are three different structures to your teaching schedule, each dividing your time between teaching in schools and teaching in English Immersion camps.

With Scheme A you will be teaching in a local school approximately 20 hours a week and working at one camp a month.

With Scheme B you will be working in the school approximately 15 hours a week and taking part in up to three camps a month.

With Scheme C you will work 10 hours a week in the school and up to fours camps a month.

Teachers working under scheme A will do mostly Monday through Friday, during the mornings/afternoons or two shifts along the day (when working in small towns or language institutes). For scheme B, you will work approximately 4 to 5 days a week, Monday to Friday. For scheme C, there are usually more days off from the school, but teachers participate much more frequently in camps. The camps usually last three days, between Monday and Wednesday, Wednesday and Friday or Friday and Sundays. Teachers who work as counsellors in a camp during the weekend don’t usually have to work the following weekend. Typical class sizes range from 15 to 35 students, depending on whether you work in a school or language institute. Most placements will involve teaching groups of adults, adolescents and/or younger learners.

The location of your teaching placement is ultimately decided by the schools themselves and is subject to availability; therefore you will need to adopt a flexible attitude. A placement is typically one semester, however shorter placements of one or two months are occasionally available. If you opt for a 12-month placement, you will likely experience a series of consecutive placements.
