This internship gives you the opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on journalism experience in one of the most beautiful parts of the world. You will have the opportunity to contribute English-written articles to a local Thai newspaper every other week, reporting on local events and interesting developments within the area.
Spending a guaranteed 25+ hours of work per week, you will also have ample opportunity to explore the area and its interesting vibrant culture. It is the perfect opportunity for those looking to utilize their theoretical knowledge and training, while gaining invaluable experience in international journalism.
An English-speaking local with an established background in journalism will coordinate your work. They will have achieved a Bachelor or Master’s Degree within the field, giving you the very best guidance and learning opportunities. They will provide regular feedback and help break down any language barriers you may face.
This, like all of our programs, are designed to immerse you as much as possible with the locals and the culture. This helps you to fully integrate into the placement and your new surroundings.
While your exact schedule will be determined based upon the time of application, the majority of the journalism internship will take place from Monday-Friday. You will be expected to contribute between 25-30 hours per week and may occasionally be asked to work during the weekends.
You will start your Thailand internship with an introductory week. This is a great opportunity to learn about the local culture and customs, as well as taking part in sightseeing activities. You will learn more about Thai culture through cooking lessons, excursions and handicraft making. You will then move on to working in a professional environment, contributing one article to the newspaper every two weeks.
You will write articles and reports based upon careful research within the field, collaborating directly with local Thai newspapers. Throughout the placement, you’ll gain study-affiliated and international work experience, as well as develop your knowledge and teamwork skills within the field. You’ll also be making a worthwhile contribution to the local Thai community.
24-hour local support will be provided, and your coordinator will provide weekly feedback and progress sessions with the host. This gives you the opportunity to see how well you are progressing and whether further development is needed.
Travel & Accommodation
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed and picked up from the airport, before being taken to your accommodation. You will be sharing accommodation with other interns and like-minded people.
Three meals are provided each day during the week, while two meals are provided at the weekends. This gives you the opportunity to explore the local area and the delicious cuisine on offer. Transfers between the accommodation and internship placement will also be offered free of charge.

- Passion and enthusiasm for Journalism, previous experience or qualifications preferred, but not compulsory
