This project gives you the opportunity to enhance your photography skills and knowledge by working alongside a professional photographer. They will provide invaluable practical tips, along with theoretical foundations to help boost your skills. It is very much a hands-on experience. You won’t just be listening to the professional telling you how to do things, you’ll be putting everything you learn into practice as you go along.
This isn’t just your average photography experience either. You get to explore and photograph the outstanding natural beauty of Thailand. Visiting numerous locations throughout the placement, you’ll have the opportunity to perfectly capture the Thai culture and its jaw-dropping scenery. You will also learn more about the culture, as well as Thai art, customs and history.
Just some of the locations you’ll be visiting throughout the project include local temples, markets and museums. This will give you an incredible snapshot of your time in this beautiful country. You can also use these photos in your portfolio when you return home.
Having the opportunity to work alongside a professional photographer is a fantastic experience. You’ll go from a beginner to an amateur photographer in no time. Whether you have a general interest in photography, or you’d like to progress into a photography career, you’ll find this placement truly invaluable.
The placement runs Monday through to Friday and you will spend 4 hours a day, for 3 days of the placement, with the professional photographer.
The first Monday after breakfast, you’ll be given time to settle in to your new environment. Then, after lunch you’ll head out to the floating rafts on the lake. After dinner, you’ll head to the night market.
Tuesday will be a fun-packed day. After breakfast, you will take part in a photography theory lesson before heading out to a local rice field to shoot landscape views and models. You’ll then be treated to a visit to the Tham Khong Pen temple and the Phu Pha Noi Mountain. After lunch, you’ll have a photo retouch session before dinner and you’ll enjoy one of the area’s biggest night markets.
On Wednesday, you’ll be treated to a day trip to Nong Khai after breakfast. There, you’ll visit the Wat Aranyabanpot to view temple art and local paintings. You will also explore the Nong Khai museum. After lunch, you’ll explore the local market and have the opportunity to meet the local people. Later on in the day you’ll experience a sunset boat cruise over to friendship bridge, before enjoying a pizza dinner.
On Thursday morning, you will take part in a photography workshop, visit the Temple Mahashai and the Erawan Cave. After lunch at the resort, you will partake in a photo retouch session before learning to cook Isaan food, which you will eat for dinner.
On Friday, you will visit the Cho Faa Mountain for a photo opportunity, before having lunch. You’ll then have free time in the afternoon, before undergoing another photo retouch session. Finally, in the evening you will be treated to a goodbye BBQ and campfire dinner.
Travel and Accommodation
Upon arrival, you will be welcomed and picked up from the airport, before being taken to your accommodation.
You will be sharing accommodation with other interns and like-minded people. You will be sleeping 2-4 per room, and all bed linen, mosquito nets and a fan will be provided. Your room is lockable and there is free wifi available in the public areas.
Three meals are provided each day during the week, while two meals are provided at the weekends. A variety of Thai style dishes (vegetarian and fish) will be served. Mostly rice dishes will be provided in addition to fruits and vegetables, on a few occasions meat may be available too.
You will have the opportunity to explore the local area and the delicious cuisine on offer. Transfers between the accommodation and internship placement will also be offered free of charge.
