Introduction

Join our self-sustainable eco farm in Brazil, where we live and apply the principles of Permaculture to create a balanced and harmonious coexistence with nature. Through organic farming, renewable energy, agroforestry, and natural building (bioconstruction), we work daily to become a reference in sustainable living. Nestled in the peaceful mountains near Nova Friburgo, far from the rush of modern life, Eco Caminhos offers a unique space for personal growth, learning, and reconnection with nature.

Our volunteer program goes far beyond participating in agroforestry, bioconstruction, or eco-farming tasks. It is about joining a purpose-driven community, contributing your own skills, and learning side by side with people from around the world. We value human development, cultural exchange, and mutual respect across different backgrounds and perspectives.

Join us in our mission to regenerate nature and inspire positive social change. Come be part of our journey toward a more sustainable, conscious, and connected world.

Daily Life

We create a personalized schedule for each short-term volunteer, allowing you to either focus on a specific area or gain a broad, holistic experience across our projects. Most short-term volunteers choose to work 3 days per week (24 hours total), diving into Sustainable Living, Bioconstruction, Agroforestry, and Organic Farming. You’ll learn a blend of theoretical foundations and practical skills while collaborating with our diverse team of long- and short-term volunteers from around the world.

During your first week, our project coordinators will guide you through introductory presentations on our sustainability practices, helping you understand the philosophy and methodology behind our work. After that, you’ll take part in hands-on projects in Bioconstruction, Agroforestry, and Organic Farming, gaining valuable insight into our daily operations and regenerative practices.

The remaining two weekdays, along with weekends, are yours to explore Brazil. Many volunteers use this time to study Portuguese, visit Rio de Janeiro, enjoy local markets in Nova Friburgo, or join optional activities such as horseback riding, hiking, camping, or eco-sports. Your volunteer coordinator is always available to help you plan your experience, ensuring you enjoy both life on the farm and your adventures beyond it.

Below is a typical daily schedule:

6:00 – Wake up and enjoy breakfast
7:00 – Begin work in Bioconstruction, Organic Farming, or Agroforestry
9:30 – Coffee break
9:45 – Continue project work
12:00 – Lunch break
13:00 – Resume afternoon activities
16:00 – Finish work and return to volunteer accommodation
17:00 – Optional Portuguese lesson with a native speaker
19:00 – Dinner time
20:00 – Relax and join social activities such as game nights or bonfires (when scheduled)
22:00 – Rest and recharge for the next day

This rhythm offers a balanced mix of meaningful work, learning, community life, and cultural immersion, making your experience at Eco Caminhos both enriching and unforgettable.
