Olivia won a free 1 month placement at our Manatee and Primate Rehabilitation project in Belize. Runners up Amelia Lidell and Tana Borlace won a free placement fee for any of our veterinary or wildlife projects.The essay question was ” Welfare without Borders: Cultural differences should continue to play an important role in the perception of animal welfare internationally.“There were over 20 entries which was shortlisted to just 6, who were then invited to give a short presentation of their essays and ideas. Sitting on the panel of judges was Dr Charlotte C. Burn – Lecturer in Animal Welfare and Behaviour Science, and myself Jeremy Freedman – CEO of Global Nomadic. Dr. Martin Whiting – Lecturer in Veterinary Ethics and Law also helped organise the competition and offer his guidance, as choosing the winners was particularly difficult!
