Costs Explained

Introduction

We work in over 15 kindergartens in Ubud and its surrounding villages. We also have our own kindergarten that we run for 4-5 year olds, who can attend it for free. The children are right at the start of their school careers and we offer them the chance to start learning English at an early age, which is an invaluable skill for their later life.

Our teaching style is informal as the children mainly want to play with you more than to be ‘taught’. However, simply by getting them excited about coming to school, teaching them some basic English phrases such as simple greetings, you will be helping them enormously in their early development

The children will always be excited to see you! They are exceptionally welcoming, partly due to the natural and genuine friendliness of the Balinese, but also due to the fact that you will be one of the few foreigners they will have met!

Intro. Week

Your placement can start with an optional Introductory Week, which will introduce you to the Balinese way of life, and prepare you for the rest of your placement. This week is automatically included in your placement. Your schedule will look like this;

You’ll be introduced to Bali on a walking tour of Monkey Street, the main commercial road in the city. There’ll be a welcome dinner, followed by a traditional Balinese dance in Ubud palace.

Daily Life

After your optional Introductory Week, you will be working Monday to Friday, preparing your lessons for 1-2 hours in the morning, and then teaching for around 2-3 hours each afternoon.

You will have breakfast at 7:30am and preparations start from 8am until 12pm. After an hour’s lunch, you’ll then start teaching. The evenings are then free for you to do as you please.

Why not then also explore Ubud and its fascinating culture? There’s a beautiful majestic palace situated right in the centre of the town. There are also lots of great art studios, galleries and a craft market to be explored during the weekends.

You could also explore Ubud in the evenings, taking advantage of its laid-back atmosphere. You’ll find cultural night performances at the Puri Saren Royal Palace and live music events at the Laughing Buddha Bar just north of the Ubud Monkey Forest.
