Introduction
Are you passionate about wildlife and looking to make a meaningful impact while experiencing Canadian culture? Join us at the Wildlife Rescue Center near Vancouver, one of the world’s most livable cities, nestled between mountains, ocean, and Canada’s wild nature!
If you want to help rescue and rehabilitate wildlife while staying close to the urban comforts of Vancouver, this project is perfect for you. As a volunteer at Canada’s largest wildlife rehabilitation facility, you’ll contribute to the care of nearly 5000 wildlife patients each year. Wildlife Rescue specializes in rehabilitating injured wildlife, raising orphaned animals, and treating pollution-damaged species, all with the goal of releasing them back into their natural habitats. In this project, you’ll focus on the rehabilitation of a variety of native bird species, including songbirds, water-birds, and shorebirds.
While volunteering, you’ll be kept on your feet, participating in physically demanding tasks, regardless of the weather. But don’t worry – your hard work will be deeply rewarding as you witness firsthand the impact you’re making on the recovery of these creatures. Not only will your efforts directly benefit the local wildlife, but they will also help alleviate the strain on local communities by rescuing and rehabilitating nuisance or potentially dangerous animals. Once the animals are ready to return to the wild, they are released in areas far from human communities, ensuring the health and safety of both wildlife and local residents.
This project operates year-round, with over 190 volunteers working alongside staff to run the Wildlife Hospital. As a volunteer, you’ll be part of a supportive and friendly community, with ample opportunities to interact with both local and international volunteers.
The program requires a minimum 6-week commitment, and volunteers work 6-8 hours a day, four days a week, leaving you with 3 days off each week to explore the stunning Greater Vancouver area. Whether you want to explore the city, visit nearby parks, or enjoy the outdoors, your free time will be the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the beauty and culture of Canada.
Make a difference today by joining this life-changing experience and helping protect Canada’s incredible wildlife!
