This volunteer project is rewarding but physically demanding.
Please note that volunteering at the sanctuary is not an “easy holiday option” — it requires hard work, dedication, and a passion for wildlife care. However, the experience is incredibly rewarding as you’ll be helping to provide safe, enriching environments for animals that require special care. You’ll have plenty of time off to explore the beauty of the Big Island, with two days a week free to visit its beaches, volcanoes, and lush landscapes.

Daily Life

Help care for our exotic animals on the Big Island of Hawaii!
Immerse yourself in the beauty of Hawaii while contributing to the care and conservation of a variety of exotic animals at our sanctuary. You’ll have the chance to work hands-on with animals from diverse species, ensuring they receive the attention, love, and care they need to thrive.

The sanctuary is perfectly situated for those who want to balance meaningful volunteer work with leisure time. After your volunteering hours, you’ll be just a short distance away from stunning beaches, charming local villages, and the vibrant Hawaiian culture that the Big Island is known for.

The center is situated between the mountains and the ocean,
This prime location offers something for everyone! Whether you’re into hiking, swimming, snorkeling, or simply enjoying the breathtaking scenery, your time off will be filled with endless opportunities to explore Hawaii’s natural beauty. From majestic volcanoes to crystal-clear waters, you’ll experience it all while making a real difference for the animals.

Travel and Accom.

Upon your arrival at the airport, you will be greeted and transported to our project.

Volunteers will be staying in a private room with bath or semi-private flat depending on number of volunteers! You will live on site of the project and what’s also included are; laundry facility in the house, internet and TV.

You will enjoy three meals a day.  The menu features local cuisine, offering a delightful mix of meat, fish, and fresh vegetables.

Upon arrival, volunteers will attend an orientation event that includes an introduction to local culture, an overview of the volunteer experience and program details, practical information, and safety guidelines.

• Minimum age 18
• Passion and enthusiasm for conservation
• Not afraid to get wet!
• Ability to work within a team environment
• Minimum 2 weeks commitment
• Good English skills
• Necessary vaccinations
• Necessary flight & visas
• Full travel & medical insurance. Full assistance will be provided in getting everything you will need ready if you choose our Placement Support Package.
