Costs Explained

Introduction

Immerse yourself in the breathtaking landscapes of Scotland while contributing to vital wildlife and environmental conservation efforts in the remote Scottish Highlands. As a volunteer, you will play a key role in protecting iconic species such as the European Wildcat, White-Tailed Eagle, European Otter, Osprey, and Golden Eagle. This program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in conservation while working in one of the most ecologically rich and rugged regions of the UK.

As one of the last strongholds for wildlife in Western Europe, the Highlands provide a unique and ecologically rich environment where volunteers can make a real difference.

Daily Life

With a minimum commitment of 12 weeks and a maximum of 24 weeks, this experience is designed for dedicated individuals eager to make a lasting impact.

Volunteers will work as part of a small team, undertaking a variety of practical conservation tasks, including

  • wildlife monitoring and research,
  • habitat restoration,
  • and invasive species management.

Activities may involve

  • felling non-native trees,
  • maintaining footpaths,
  • constructing fences,
  • installing reserve signs,
  • building boardwalks,
  • and repairing bird hides.

Through these efforts, volunteers will directly contribute to the preservation of Scotland’s diverse wildlife and natural landscapes.

Travel and Accom.

Upon your arrival at the airport, you will be greeted and transported to our project.

Volunteers will be accommodated in dormitories 100m from the beach. The dormitories are available in female-only or mixed-gender options and feature private bathrooms shared with other occupants in the room.

The hostel provides various amenities, including a bar area, a comfortable sitting area, and a communal kitchen and outside grill area for those who prefer to cook their meals. Additionally, some rooms offer balconies for relaxation, and the rooftop boasts stunning views of the sea, providing a serene environment to unwind after a day of volunteering.

You will enjoy two meals a day—breakfast and dinner—provided at a nearby restaurant. The menu features local cuisine prepared in Greek style, offering a delightful mix of meat, fish, and fresh vegetables. Lunch is not included but there are some delicious cheap options available nearby.

Upon arrival, volunteers will attend an orientation event that includes an introduction to Greek culture, an overview of the volunteer experience and program details, practical information, and safety guidelines.
