Introduction
Are you passionate about animal welfare and want to make a difference in the world? Then our Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation program in Goa is perfect for you!
The state of Goa has a large number of cattle and dogs roaming the streets and beaches, making animal rescue and rehabilitation a critical need. During the summer and monsoon seasons, restaurants along the beaches close, and the dogs lose access to food. Our program provides cooked food to the dogs during this period and brings injured animals to our rescue centre for treatment and rehabilitation.
By joining our program, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining the rescue centre, caring for injured animals, rescuing animals when needed, and feeding dogs on the beaches during the summer and monsoon seasons. Our local rescue experts will direct you in daily rescue and rehabilitation tasks, including collecting and transporting injured animals, animal husbandry, basic first aid, and constructing animal enclosures.
You’ll make a real contribution to the rescue and rehabilitation of sick, injured, and orphaned animals, including playing a significant role in rehabilitating and releasing orphaned animals whose parents have been killed in road accidents.
To ensure you’re prepared for your work, we’ll provide you with instructions on how to interact with different animals, including wiping eyes and bodies with warm salty water, treating for ticks and fleas, bottle-feeding calves, and grooming cows and goats.
This project will be conducted in the mornings, but you’re welcome to continue in the afternoons if you wish. Join us today and be part of the solution for animal welfare in Goa!
Daily Life
Experience a fulfilling journey through our animal rehabilitation program in India. Join us as we provide care and rehabilitation to sick and injured animals. From day one, we will guide you through a series of activities that will not only help you immerse yourself in the local culture but also train you to be a competent member of our team.
On your first day, you will be introduced to your new environment and program through a day trip to a local spice plantation, market and supermarket. Our coordinators will be with you every step of the way, ensuring you feel comfortable and prepared for the journey ahead.
During the second day of the program, you will be given an introduction to the local project through observation time at the project site, allowing you to assist existing participants. Our on-site coordinators will provide step-by-step theoretical training to better acquaint you with the tasks and activities of the project.
From Wednesday to Friday, your time on the project will begin. Starting with an early breakfast, you will travel to the animal rehabilitation center and engage in a variety of tasks such as feeding the animals, monitoring their behavior, changing bandages, administering medication and cleaning their enclosures. You will also have the opportunity to go to the beach to feed stray dogs during the monsoon season of June to October.
At the center, we provide a packed lunch for you to enjoy before you continue with your work in the afternoon. The workday ends at around 16:30, after which you can return to the center and relax, ready to take on the next day’s work.
Join us in making a meaningful difference in the lives of animals and experience the fulfillment of caring for the voiceless.
