Introduction
Seize this incredible opportunity to work alongside wildlife researchers and biologists in the Tov Province of Mongolia! As a volunteer, you’ll play a key role in the conservation efforts of one of the world’s rarest and most endangered species, the Wild Takhi, also known as Przewalski’s Horse.
Once thought to be extinct, the Przewalski’s Horse was last seen in the wild around 1966. Unlike other wild horses such as the American Mustang, which are descendants of domesticated horses, the Przewalski’s Horse has never been domesticated, making it the only truly wild horse species remaining today. The primary goal of this project is to support ongoing research and conservation efforts, focusing on the adaptation, biology, and behavior of these magnificent creatures, as well as field ecosystem studies.
Volunteers will actively participate in monitoring the behavior and growth of the Przewalski’s horses, collecting data on their habitat, and assessing the surrounding flora and fauna. This hands-on experience will provide a unique opportunity to contribute to the species’ reintroduction and ensure their long-term survival. In addition, volunteers will have the chance to explore Mongolia’s vast and beautiful landscapes on horseback, adding adventure to their impactful work.
Join us for a minimum of one week, up to a maximum of four weeks, and become an integral part of this meaningful wildlife conservation project. Don’t miss out on the chance to get up close with these incredible wild horses while making a difference in preserving one of the world’s most unique species!
Daily Life
Join the Wild Przewalski Research Facility in Mongolia and become part of a groundbreaking effort to protect and learn about one of the world’s most unique and endangered creatures – the Przewalski horse. This incredible opportunity allows you to directly contribute to the research and conservation of these wild horses by monitoring their habits, behavior, and growth in their natural habitat.
You’ll also have the chance to explore Mongolia’s vast and stunning landscapes through horse riding, getting an up-close and personal experience with these magnificent creatures. Along the way, visit Mongolian Nomadic families to learn about their rich culture and traditional way of life, gaining a deeper understanding of the region’s history and its connection to the land. This experience offers a blend of wildlife conservation, adventure, and cultural immersion – a truly unforgettable opportunity!
